Patio Planning!

Boy-Oh-Boy has the temperature quickly creeped up to the near triple digits. BF and I made a trip to Home Depot this weekend to start fixing up the patio for spring and summer. Although the backyard is quite small, we have a large list of wants for it.

Here's a quick summary of our plans:
  • Bold Patio Curtains
  • Black, White, Blue & Lime
  • Large table for dinner parties
  • Veggie Container Garden
  • Hammock
  • Flowers
We have quite a few projects in store for outside. Above is an inspiration board I created for the patio and a few pics of fun container gardens from here and here. Look forward to many posts to come on our outdoor decorating!

P.S. Only one more week of classes!!! Yay!

Wheat Grass!

To bring a little color into the kitchen area, BF and I decided to plant some greens. After a little investigation we thought wheat grass would be the perfect planter filler. Not only is it super easy to grow, but it sprouts extremly fast.

We bought our wheat grass seeds off e-bay from a seller in Wisconsin. Two pounds was only $10 shipped! And let me tell you...two pounds is PLENTY! We planted six pots of wheat grass and it we probably used about 25% of the seeds.

Here's a quick run down on planting them wheat grass.

  • Soak the seeds in water overnight.
  • Place some rocks in the bottom of the planter for water drainage
  • Fill the pot about 3/4ths of the way up with organic soil
  • Sprinkle the seeds all over the top of the soil
  • Add a thin layer of soil to cover the seeds
  • Water the seeds
  • Watch the magic happen!
In less than a week, you will have some beautiful tasty wheat grass! If anyone has any ideas of what to do with wheat grass, let me know!

Sometimes I feel like this...

I think artist Fernando Botero did an excellent job summing up my feelings today in this painting he did haha. Let me tell you a little about my diet today....Cowtails Candy for breakfast, Panda Express for lunch, scrumptious fatty homemade din, and strawberry shortcake ice cream bar for desert.

Definitely time to get back on track with the better eating habits. Why, oh why, do I have such a craving for junk food. It makes me dreary and lazy. Tomorrow I am going to try to eat things to energize my body rather than wear it out. A breakfast fruit smoothie sounds like the perfect start to the day.

Oh and of course I cannot forget the excercise...Bikini season is far too soon. I think I've skipped the gym for a good month straight. Tomorrow I will venture back to that wonderful place. Maybe I'll even go for a bike ride. And tuesdays are bootcamp days! Yay for an unheard of number of squats and lunges.

P.S. I have this secret desire to become a yogi (yoga pro)...It's actually on my bucket list which I will share with you guys soon. I have a LONG ways to go, but I came across this way cool site that might help me on my quest. If you're interested in yoga or pilates, I totally recommend My Yoga Online. You pay a monthly fee and have unlimited access to hundreds of yoga, pilates, and meditation videos. Oh and they even have a belly dancing video! It rocks. Let me know if you want to check it out. I think I can send you a link to try it out for free for a week.

Hope you have a happy Monday!

Happy Spring!!!

Wow...it has been far too long since my last blog post. I guess things just get crazy busy during the school semester. As this semester is winding down, it is certainly time to get back into the blogging mode.

The BF bought his first house a month ago. I am soo proud of him. Buying a house at 21 yrs old is a major accomplishment in my mind. His new house has been keeping me busy and in the decorating mood! We have lots of plans in mind for this summer.

Here's a preview of some of the projects in store:

  • Modernizing this $30 Dresser from The Salvation Army:

  •  Grow some Wheat Grass. (PS...We got these planters at target for 90% off!!!)
  •  Spice up the patio
  •  Paint! Yes, that is black paint :)

  • Reupholster this Sweet $7 chair from Goodwill
  • Finish working on the half-bath (electric blue accents to come!)
Stay tuned as we work on making this super cute house a home....

Beach Cruisers

So the other day bf and I wandered into this new bike store that opened near by. We've been on the lookout for a tandem bike since our trip to Catalina but when we set our eyes on the beach cruisers we were ecstatic! Plus since I can be a bit of a control freak...it was hard for me to be on the back on the tandem putting my life in the hands of the bf :) Fast forward 48 hours and we are now proud owners of some sweet beach cruisers! Bf picked a nice and classy looking flat black color while I of course went for the shiny pink. These bikes rock! Here's a picture of our new bikes and some outfits I plan on wearing this spring while strolling around town on my cruiser!

Utterly Inspiring..

I am often blown away by the ways people express their creativity. Above are two amazing displays of artistic skill and finese. If you take a closer look at the works of Guido Daniele and James Kuhn you'll notice all of these paintings are actually on the human body. It's amazing how Daniele forms his hands and arms into appearing like and animal and I certainly cannot get over the ways that Kuhn blends his facial features into the object he is portraying. I love how he uses his own eyes for the eyes on some of the face painting!! Be sure to check out their sites for other amazing works. Which one is your favorite?
